Vintage Jingles 10-12

Track 10: Linco

A bluing agent used in doing laundry. It was an intense blue color, and a teeny bit made white things look whiter via some scientific mumbo jumbo. This is the most old-school, most formulaic jingle here. Repeat product name three times, then spell it. Appropriate melody from classical music (Gilbert and Sullivan). Use classically trained singers. “Normal” voices replaced trained singers mostly by the ‘40s. Is it weird that I find this one so aesthetically pleasing?

Tell me pretty maidens why
Your wash is white as snow
The answer’s really simple, sir
The answer is Linco
L-I-N-C-O
Linco, Linco, Linco

Track 11: Log Cabin Syrup

It came in a log-cabin-shaped tin. The spout was the chimney. I loved the packaging. Five reps.

What are you havin’?
Havin’ Log Cabin
Havin’ Log Cabin on your pancakes, yes
I’m havin’ Log Cabin
The very best syrup that man makes
Havin’ Log Cabin
Havin’ Log Cabin
Havin’ Log Cabin
Hmmmmmm!

Track 12: Old Timer’s Beer

A local Wisconsin brand. Five reps here, too.

Old Timer’s Beer, Old Timer’s Beer
Old Timer’s Beer, Old Timer’s Beer
Old Timer’s Beer, the beer
For you, for you
You’ve tried the rest
Now try the best
The best of the better brews
