Out Of Nowhere

Music, Johnny Green (1908–1989); lyrics, Edward Heyman (1907–1981)

These two guys also wrote “Body And Soul” and “I Cover The Waterfront.” (Whoa.) Johnny Green also wrote the Betty Boop theme for the Fleischer cartoons. Edward Heyman wrote “When I Fall In Love.” Two prolific guys!

“Out of Nowhere” is considered a jazz standard and has been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Dave Brubeck and Coleman Hawkins, to name but a few. It was also Bing Crosby’s first big hit record.

call bullshit on myself. his first hit record, three little words, came out the year before, and was #1 for three (little) weeks. I had read somewhere this was his first.
