Moon River

Music, Henry Mancini (1924–1994); lyrics, Johnny Mercer (1909–1976)

Wow, Henry Mancini. 72 Grammy nominations and 20 awards, 90 albums with a number of bands, classical, jazz, and pop. Eight golden albums. He conducted over 600 symphony performances. You already know Johnny Mercer.

And wow, what a perfect song, a timeless masterpiece. It was written for the movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s, and was sung by Audrey Hepburn, who accompanied herself on guitar. A Paramount executive wanted the song dropped from the film. Ay-yi-yi.
