Track 8: The Obstacle is the Way

From the stoic aphorism list. At three sentences, it was one of the longest ones there:

The obstacle is the way
Ego is the foe
Stillness is the key

Track 9: God May Be Indifferent

I wonder how many people who consider themselves atheists have felt or witnessed the spirit/spirits, say, during a Pentecostal service, or some other church service, like the ones that feature sacred steel music. Or, have felt that spirit during a musical performance.

I’ve been thinking of the possibility of chi/qi having a spiritual aspect. My old qigong instructor told us that the Chinese word that describes one’s approach to gain mastery of, or connection with, qi is one that entices qi, seemingly implying an awareness or sentience on the part of qi. This week I read a review of Johnny Marr’s book about his guitars (Marr’s Guitars). He said some guitars have qi, implying that inanimate objects can have qi. That’s a possibility I’d never thought about. Who knows? The world is weirder than we can imagine. Anyway, qi possibly has a spiritual component, or something. Who the fuck knows?

God may be indifferent
But the spirits never are (repeat three times)
Who’s indifferent? God
Who’s not? The spirits
God may be indifferent
But the spirits never are

Track 10: Please Help Me

A simple prayer I made up, put to music. Basically, asking for a godly goose. Or, a Godly Goose, which sounds like a 1940s, funny-animal comic book character.

Please help me
Please help my friends
Please help my family
Please help me help my family and my friends
Please help them help me
Please help me help everybody
Please help everybody help me
Please help us
Please help our friends
Please help our families

Disillusioned with the Age of Aquarius, I got involved with the Pentecostal/Fundamentalist Jesus movement in the mid-70’s for about 6 years. One thing that finally helped me leave that cult- I kept finding written accounts (always a curious reader)of obscure Taoist sects that were having experiences very similar to what I was having and seeing in church… hey, wait a minute I said…

Anyway, my point is your theory about qi is probably correct!
