See my notes for “They Didn’t Believe Me” (1915). Once again, as I said, Jerome Kern is my favorite songwriter of the Great American Songbook era. Five of my 100 songs are his. Otto Harbach mentored Oscar Hammerstein II and advocated the radical idea that the songs should all further the plot and characterization. 

“Who?” was written for the 1925 Broadway musical Sunny.
